Chez Ming is a comfortable self catering gite holiday home in the charming medieval village of Catus near Cahors in the Lot, South West France. We are close to major tourist sites of the south and SW - in the Dordogne, Lot & Garonne, Aveyron, Tarn & Garonne, Correze - and only 2-3 hours drive to the Pyrenees and the mountains of the Cantal. The Chez Ming gite occupies the whole of the ground floor of a beautifully restored 19th century stone house typical of the region. It is completely self-contained with its own entrance and parking bay. The main house consists of three floors and has a large secluded garden - ideal for that relaxing holiday.

The gite is situated alongside a stream at the edge of the village of Catus, 15 Kms from Cahors. A shaded footpath on the other side of the stream leads to the Lac Vert leisure lake - a pleasant 15 minute walk in the shade of trees and alongside the stream. Catus is close to major tourist sites in the region.

We invite you to come and experience life at the edge of a village in south-west France that still shows evidence of its medieval origins. Meet the local villagers during a stroll around the village or on your morning walk to the local boulangerie for your bread and croissants, at the bar and at the year-round weekly market on Tuesday mornings in the main Boulevard.

Services in the village include a small well-stocked supermarket, butchery, greengrocer, pizzeria, restaurant/bar, cafe/bar, post office, newsagent, florist, hairdresser, and two antique shops. If you run short of cash (who doesn't when on holiday!!) there is a cash-dispensing machine (Credit Agricole Bank) that accepts most credit/debit cards. The bank deopt operates twice a week. There is a small medical centre (two doctors and other medical services such as physiotherapist and nurses) and a pharmacy.

The lounge has a window overlooking the stream and large French doors leading to the private terrace shaded by a wisteria and grapvine-clad pergola. This is a sunny, secluded spot facing west and southwest with open views over the large garden, trees, the stream and the hills and fields beyond. The secluded garden is safe for children with a play area. There are outdoor games, swings and a protected well with a large, shaded patio area.

Your French/British hosts, Michele & Eddie, occupy the top two floors of the main house. They value your privacy but are available to assist you if you need it.
